ControlTheoryPro: Welcome to the site devoted to Control Systems

I had updated this page earlier this week but it didn't take for some reason. Sorry about that...

Small Surge in New Users --- Thanks for Contributing

I'm always happy to see more and more people visit the site. We've had a small surge in new, registered, users this last week and I'm very happy about that. I'm even more pleased that one of the new users decided to also become a contributor. Thank you Cmatthews for your new articles. Keep up the good work and thanks for following the basics of the Style Guide.

I've been intending to create an SEO guide to go along with that Style Guide to provide some tips on how to structure your writing style so that Google picks up your contributions better. Honestly, it would make me eccstatic if one of the contributors to this site got a job because someone saw those contributions. That is far more likely if Google picks up your pages and ranks them well.

Absolutely anything you write (other than spam) is good. However, here are a couple of tips for making Google like your pages much more:

  1. Write naturally so readers like the article first and foremost but be explicit. For example, good writing style would likely dictate that the main topic be referred to at least once in most paragraphs. However, we tend to use short hand and instead of writing a PID controller has the benefits of ... we write The controller has the ... Google will like your page a lot better if you replace the lazy short hand with more a explicit writing style and I've found the articles are far easier to follow if you are reading them for the first time.
  2. Instead on naming the first section Introduction name it Introduction to X where X is the full name (or nearly full name) of the article.
  3. As you are creating sections, repeat some form of the topic in those headings. For example, if page is on PID control then the first section is Introduction to PID Control, the next section could be Standard Form of the PID Controller, the following section being titled Example: PID Control of a Second Order System.

General Notes

Learn from the site --> Contribute to the site.

This site, this subject matter, can only reach its full potential with readers becoming contributors. Please offer whatever knowledge you have to offer. If you are just getting started in controls, please learn from the site, return when you know more, and share. It's how we all get smarter. If you have a question feel free to ask it in the Forum.

Featured Example

I've recently added a Simple Offline Least Squares System Identification Example. This example details the use of offline least squares system identification using a Simulink model and some MATLAB code. The least squares fit is good for interpolation but is not an adequate model for direct time domain modeling.

The example is an SISO continuous model and the article compares the least squares parameters for interpolation use and time domain modeling.

Enjoy

Gabe
