ControlTheoryPro: Welcome to the site devoted to Control Systems
Unfortunately the SPAMers got around the reCAPTCHA I implemented. So I've been forced to shut the new accounts on this site. That way the site can continue (hopefully SPAM free) now without requiring me to devote gobs and gobs of time to deleting these irritating, none Controls related, posts.
Unfortunately the SPAMMERs got around my no new accounts...
I'm not sure how yet but the SPAMMERs created hundreds of news accounts and hundreds of new articles in July. I have had to go into the DB and manually eliminate these new users and new "articles". I apologize but it appears that I got a little too aggressive and have also deleted a couple of legitimate accounts.
I don't get a lot of contributions to the site beyond my own (which have been pretty rare of late) and I really, really appreciate the contributions that my legit users make whether they are edits or new articles it is all appreciated. Again I apologize if your account was one of the accounts I accidentally deleted.
At some point I will figure out how to add my email address (as a picture, to prevent email scrapers from SPAMing my email account) on the registration page. At that point, you will need to email me with your account details, I'll create you an account and then you can create all the Controls and Engineering related articles you desire. I apologize for the inconvenience.
The equations went down again but they are back up...
I also need to apologize for the equations going down yet again. As some of you may know from trading emails with me the equations are rendered using MathTex which displays much nicer equations than the alternative I had back in 2008 when I started this wiki. However, MathTex can require a lot of processing power.
My server is capable of it but does the rendering rather slowly so I have been using external servers which were faster and had public MathTex renders they didn't mind sharing. Unfortunately, this last server like several previously decided to shut down its public access to MathTex - probably for the fact that the server can get overwhelmed rather easily.
The equations are showing again because they are being rendered by my server. I have always used a cache so as to not abuse the rendering servers and this should help with the speed issue I mentioned above. However, I still expect the rendering to be a little slower than it used to be but at least the equations are being rendered.
Thanks for your patience.
On a happier note...
Thanks to those new users which recently corrected some of my typos. I appreciate your efforts in making the site more accurate and my own typos are very hard to find after I've been staring at the material for hours on end...
Keep up the good work and thanks for following the basics of the Style Guide.
Just haven't had the time
I've been intending to create an SEO guide to go along with that Style Guide to provide some tips on how to structure your writing style so that Google picks up your contributions better. Honestly, it would make me eccstatic if one of the contributors to this site got a job because someone saw those contributions. That is far more likely if Google picks up your pages and ranks them well.
Absolutely anything you write (as long as it is controls/MATLAB/math/engineering related) is welcome. However, here are a couple of tips for making Google like your pages much more:
- Write naturally so readers like the article first and foremost but be explicit. For example, good writing style would likely dictate that the main topic be referred to at least once in most paragraphs. However, we tend to use short hand and instead of writing a PID controller has the benefits of ... we write The controller has the ... Google will like your page a lot better if you replace the lazy short hand with more a explicit writing style and I've found the articles are far easier to follow if you are reading them for the first time.
- Instead on naming the first section Introduction name it Introduction to X where X is the full name (or nearly full name) of the article.
- As you are creating sections, repeat some form of the topic in those headings. For example, if page is on PID control then the first section is Introduction to PID Control, the next section could be Standard Form of the PID Controller, the following section being titled Example: PID Control of a Second Order System.
