1 Introduction to the MATLAB's isstable Command

MATLAB's isstable command returns a boolean - true for stable, false for unstable.

This function requires the Control System Toolbox.

2 Basic Usage of isstable

The isstable command has the following basic usage

 >> isstable(sys)

3 Notes on isstable

I've had problems with the isstable command. If you think the system should be stable but isstable returns false, double check the poles. I've often found that the "unstable" poles are at approximately +1E-16 suggesting a truncation error.
